I think one of the reasons for this "slippery slope" of radical progressivism is the overwhelming influence of radical feminism on our culture. It's been going on for decades and continues today. The dual message of women as victims of men and the patriarchy, while at the same time sending the message of the "girl boss". Research has found what we know instinctively that young women are very empathetic as a group. This was a very positive and stabilizing influence on our culture. The radical feminist ideology is teaching these young women who is the victim and who is the victimizer. As a result, we end up with the sick society we see today.
For me, the main issue is the concept of utopia itself rather than the specific content of a utopian dream. Utopia is literally the end of history. It is the antithesis of change and development. Utopia always ends in an apocalypse because violence is the only way to force perfection upon the world that refuses to recognize how imperfect (in the ideologue's view) it is. The left ideology today is a rather pathetic bunch of second-hand narratives, odds and ends of the great utopian projects that flooded the world with blood in the last century. Compared to Communism and National Socialism, queer theory is a joke. However, let's not forget that in 1924 Hitler was universally ridiculed as a clown, and Stalin was an unremarkable apparatchik. It is their utopian ideologies that made these two losers into monsters. With all due respect to drag shows, they won't bring Western civilization down. But this is not to say that another disastrous utopian ideology is not brewing somewhere on the political margins.

So if a toddler grows up with a daily (and hourly) dose of androgynous, trans or drag adults, their norm is shifted forever.
