The economy is increasingly suffocating, ruled by legions of control freaks. Civil Rights law too seems not to be used to make for equality of opportunity, but to exact revenge for grievances real and imagined, and to excise free thinkers, conservatives and white men from institutions public and private.

Grad school today (and back when I finished in 2005) is a grift holding empty promises, high on its own narcissistic supply of self-importance.

I have discovered that I can (and have) accomplish a lot more that is societally relevant beyond the ivory tower.

“The Civil Rights Act was a triumph of American legislation…”

Was it? Similarly to “provide for the general welfare” ceding more power to the federal government over the individual, the civil rights act gave the federal government more power over the states. Here we are. Enjoy!

Back when Lenny Bruce did his sketch about why are certain words forbidden, we didn’t have the breadth and depth of access to information or what wealth it gave rise to. But now we do and yet we still have forbidden words and ideas that are policed in case it “offends” certain groups. On the other hand for some reason just being “white” irrespective of your ethnic background is enough for you to be labelled with all sorts of names but you have to take it.

If we truly are a better society in the West then all types of abuse and jokes should be fair game. And you can give as good as you get. In that way we evolve and can focus on more important things like energy security and for me personally, the expansion into space.

But we still have to deal with small minds.

More and more I’m reminded of:

“There’s nothing new under the sun” i.e. there be grifters and moaners always

“Sticks and Stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”

Rules that we should, being adults apparently, should live by.

To add to MLK Jr “being judged by the content of the character…and bejng able to bust balls and have one’s balls busted”

Remarkable analysis. Perfection.

The issues that once were, are relatively *solved*, yet the residual effect wasn't. The stigmata is still raging onwards to find more issues or manufactured one's that keeps the gravy train rollin'. Regardless and without merit or mercy.

The question that everyone needs to be asking is:

Are we using merit as measured by objective tests such as the SAT as opposed to subjective assessments based on measures such as essays which are easily gamed in our decision making to determine who is being admitted to the top universities, hired or promoted to the best jobs or are we currently discriminating against whites, Asians and men in an attempt to compensate for the past discrimination against others?

If we are currently discriminating based on race and sex and recent Supreme Court cases suggest that we are, then don't those currently being discriminated against have the same legitimate grievances that women and blacks had in the past? Just asking.
