Thank you! I typed this in a hurry. I fixed it. I appreciate the commentary... it describes many of the college-educated people I know as well. It's a discrete social class which doesn't recognize itself as a class, with prejudices and assumptions that it pretends are just truth and decency. That can be a dangerous thing, in certain circumstances.

Same goes for retired professionals. Most of them where I live have taken up pot smoking every day. Their brains have turned to mush. Except when it comes to Trump. They come right out of their stupor to rant and rage.

Yup. This is the vast majority of my social and professional circles. I still have to hide beliefs and opinions that deviate from the accepted orthodoxy. I thought I was done with self-censorship, but no - it’s still necessary when one is among those from the professional class. It’s kind of stressful.
